Croton Gorge Park is a park in Cortlandt, New York owned and operated by Westchester County. It consists of 97 acres (39 ha) at the base of New Croton Dam. The park is a popular venue for fishing, picnicking, sledding and cross country skiing. The Old Croton Trail begins in the park, which also includes a baseball field and an impressive fountain occasionally operated with high pressure water from the reservoir. The fountain was reopened in 2000 after having been out of service since the mid twentieth century.Use our Croton on Hudson online trip itinerary maker to add Croton Gorge Park and other attractions to your Croton on Hudson vacation plans.
The road over the top of the dam is one of four arteries for crossing the Croton River (only three of the bridges connect to public roads at both ends). Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, this road has been closed to non-emergency vehicles as a security precaution, though it remains open to pedestrians and bicycles. Previously, school buses had used the road as the best route available.

Who knew that this beautiful waterfall was so close to where I live. Absolutely breathtaking. I will be going back with my lounge chair and a picnic lunch and will be taking the hiking trail to the... more »
Needed to calm down and get away for a bit. Randomly ended up here and it was just what I needed. Ready to face the day now. more »
I enjoy riding my motorcycle from Manhattan (where I live & work) to Croton Gorge Park. This is a great place to visit. The waterfall is beautiful and the park is very clean. The only thing that stopped me from giving this place a 5 star rating is the price of parking. Motorcycles have to pay full price for parking even though we take up less than half the space of a car. Outside of that, I highly recommend Croton Gorge Park for anyone who loves nature, picnicking, hiking, and fishing.
Calm and relaxing place. You can picnic here while enjoying the view of the beautiful dam. You can do trails as well and walk down to the river too. There's a small playground area for kids to play and the bathrooms are close by as well. Beautiful place.
