Several different climates are housed under one glass roof at Garfield Park Conservatory. Visit the six greenhouses to see plants from all over the world, including 200-year-old cycads, a type of plant with a woody trunk and large evergreen leaves. Tour the 1.8 hectare (4.5 acre) site on a guided tour to learn more about the history of the building and to gather specific information on the collections of plant species. The conservatory also offers a few different themed tours ("Tropical Treats" or "Behind-the-Scenes," for instance), but you'll need to register online ahead of time for one of these. Using our custom trip planner, Chicago attractions like Garfield Park Conservatory can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

Nice place to spend a whole afternoon. Recommended it for it has many species of plants. I enjoy the cactus area the most! It’s warmer than summer afternoon outside to stimulate the natural environment. Don’t miss the fern garden too. Feels like I’ve been transported back to prehistoric era. Free entrance but there’s a donation box.
Great place to escape the grime of Chicago. The history of the place is astounding and the plants are out of this world! Support the plants and donate. Great place for a first date. The palm room is fabulous. Check out the succulents. Before long you will own 20 succulents and want to own them all!
