  • We talked to some locals, and we’re able to find this awesome hike to the waterfall today. The 14 mile drive into the fossil bridge was doable in our rental car. We really enjoyed the clear waters...  more »
  • Must have reservations to park in advance. Open right now four days a week. Road closed from Strawberry only open from Camp Verde. After October 1 no advance permit required. Great river.  more »
  • This was by far the best place during our trip to Arizona. Everything about fossil creek is stunning from the waterfalls obviously but also the landscape itself. I've always been interest in fossils so hiking around the fossilized rock formations was crazy and just thinking of what the place used to look like millions of years ago. It is a wonderful spot to explore and the swimming was fantastic! only thing I will say is that you better have a good vehicle to get there, its about 14 miles drive to get to the main gate on some pretty rough dirt roads then to get to some of the parking lots is also pretty rocky. We made it in our ford fusion, but I'd definitely recommend a higher clearance vehicle just to make it easier and less of an issue. but you can totally make it with a car its just more of an adventure that way. As everyone else mentions you have to get a permit for the day and parking lot that you want. So during busy season you best get the lot you want ahead of time. We went in September in the middle of the week and had no issues but i can definitely see all the closer lots getting full and the father lots can be up to a 5 mile hike to the trail head. so just plan ahead.
  • I love nature. Fossil Springs was a relaxing place. The water was so clear and cold. It was perfect, it was all worth it with all the trip and hikes.
