Dunes Course

Upon opening in1985, the Dunes Course became the top public golf destination in Colorado, and also the most recognized and decorated public course in the state. With many of the holes patterned after the legendary courses in Scotland and Ireland, this links style course designed by renowned architects Pete and Perry Dye is unique to the area.

The Dunes has hosted more prestigious events than any other public course in the region. Among these are the 1993 USGA Public Links championship, the 1996 & 1997 Nike Tour Colorado Classic, numerous amateur and professional state championships, and many state and national event qualifiers. In September of 2005 the Dunes hosted the Colorado PGA Section Championship.

The Dunes has also been voted as the #1 public golf course in the state 19 of the past 20 years by Colorado golf Magazine. It was voted the 2nd best new course in the United States by Golf Digest in 1986, was recognized as one of the best 75 public courses in America by Golf Digest, and was on Golf Magazine’s list of the best 50 courses in America under $50.

  • There are two courses here, the Knolls and the Dunes. The Knolls has been here for years and is a basic 18 hole course. The Dunes is a Pete Dye designed course that was added in the mid-80s along...  more »
  • This is a 36 hole facility. The Dunes is a links style and is very nice. Be prepared if it is windy. Makes it play much tougher. Typical Pete Dye layout. Dunes, sand, railroad ties, and water on 9&18...  more »

  • We played the Knolls yesterday and for the most part, I enjoyed my day. The course itself was in great shape. Nice greens, open and well kept fairways, and moderately challenging setup. Carts come with GPS. For the price, this place is definitely solid. However, there were a few negative aspects that caused me no lower my rating. First and foremost, the pace of play was absolutely terrible. One of the slowest front 9s ive probably ever played. They had multiple groups of 5 or more out there- on a SUNDAY!! IMO, that should never happen. And if so, the starter better ensure they are moving efficiently (which was definitely not the case). The food left a lot to be desired. And use of the practice range was an additional fee. Had it not been for the quality of the greens, and the chip in birdie on 18, this might have been less than a 3 star review, but I guess 3 is fair. With all that said, for less than $50 on a Sunday, this place isn't bad. Just need to reinforce the concept of PACE OF PLAY!!
  • THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! Two beautiful courses that are perfect for late afternoon rounds. Only $40 bucks and played in 3.5 hours. I saw some complaints on this place from other reviews where Mr Meeker pushed people to play up with their groups. Well, all hail Mr Meeker! U have trained the players at this course on the rules of etiquette as two groups let me and my playing partner through during our round. Made it more enjoyable for all. I played Arrowhead in Littleton earlier in the week at the same late afternoon time. Over 5.5 hours! Can’t do it again! This track with its two courses are now my go to spot when I travel into town on business! Well done, mates!
