Paul Bunyan Land is an amusement park located in Brainerd, Minnesota, on This Old Farm. Its trademark is the 26-foot-tall (7.9 m) animated and talking statue of Paul Bunyan. As people enter, Paul welcomes them by name. The amusement park has 27 rides surrounded by 30 buildings.

The park, originally known as Paul Bunyan Center, was founded in 1950 in Baxter, Minnesota, by Sherm Levis. It was built around the statue of Paul that Levis and Roy Kuemicheal had purchased the previous year from the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company, who constructed them for an exhibit at the Chicago Railroad Fair. The park grew over time to include over 40 rides. In 2003, the park announced that due to the high cost of operation, it would be closing and that everything would be auctioned off. However, a local family-owned business named This Old Farm was interested in keeping the entire park and bought the statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox as well the rides. They moved the park onto their land six miles east of Brainerd on State Highway 18.

  • The place is very retro with old rides and a historic town. Believe it or not the rides are good though and I have been on the best roller coasters in the USA. Kids totally loved it. It is spendier.....  more »
  • So fun. We went here last year and my son still asks how Paul Bunyan knew his name. There were so many things to do. There was a historic area that I would have explored more had the kids not been....  more »

  • Fun place to go with children. Cost to get in is fairly high, however rides require no tickets and are unlimited. Several staff members manage the rides. The staff is nice and helpful. The large Paul Bunyan statue speaks to you, the kids love it and are so surprised he can converse with them. This is a fun trip if you are looking to fill a day.
  • Fun for the whole family. We especially enjoyed Pioneer Village. Got so absorbed in looking that we ended up being the last ones in the closing park. We really had fun doing old time photos, but would have been happier if the photographer would have made sure everyone was seen in the photos. Excellent time and we made lots of memories. Thank you!
