Jordan Pond was my favorite part of Acadia. The two hour hike around the Jordan Pond Path was scenic and a lot of fun. Although we didn't see any animals we did catch a glimpse of some slack liners.... more »
Jordan Pond is an excellent entry level hike when first visiting Acadia. It's a great way to get those muscles of yours fired up for the many adventures that lie ahead. It's a flat trail that hugs the rim of the pond offering several breathtaking vistas. Along the path there are opportunities to break off and engage in slightly more intense climbs. One includes climbing the face of the South Bubble which is a steep, .4 mile ascent. That being said, the views are stunning and you get to test your might by trying to push bubble rock over! Good luck and more importantly, have fun.
The pond and trail is a nice, easy walk for the first half (we walked counter clockwise). But the west side is rough, with a few boulders to climb over. It’s not hard but may be too much for anyone with limited mobility. And it will take about 2 1/2 hrs to get around.
