  • Absolutely loved this experience! I hadn't intended to go in, but found myself in the area and decided to look in. Huge place, so allow a good three hours at least for proper appreciation. Great facilities. My favourite part was the interactive street scene where you could just wander in and out of all the buildings. Really fired the imagination! Very authentic, even down to the street smells. Amazing immersive experience. The reconstructed period rooms, you could just lost yourself in. The World War I exhibition was also a nice surprise. Wandering round the prison was quite fun and spooky. So worth a visit if you're in York, and easy to get to on foot especially if you're walking the wall. Really made my day.
  • A really well preserved set of exhibits. We loved going through the examples of living rooms and kitchens from past decades. Loved looking back at the toys we played with and our grandparents played with. The prison was fascinating and we always had a member of staff nearby to ask questions.
