Historic Site · Tourist Spot
A site of major archaeological significance for studying the early Anglo-Saxon people, Sutton Hoo is the supposed burial site of Redwald, ruler of the East Angles and the king who led the English people to Christianity. Many of the valuable artifacts found at the site are now on display at the British Museum, but the visitor's center includes a restored Edwardian house and an exhibit hall that holds a selection of recently discovered artifacts, as well as a recreation of the famous burial ship where the remains of a high-ranking man found intact. Read about these remains, the possible great king Redwald, and interact with displays where the items buried with him are showcased. • Presently undergoing a revamp but nevertheless a jewel of history for all to enjoy. Fantastic replicas and reproductions, visual displays. Great facilities and lots to do for kids of all ages. Accessibility for wheelchair users fair to good. Nice restaurant although a packed lunch could be enjoyed in the ample grounds.
  • Very interesting historical site BUT make sure you visit the exhibition hall FIRST,! On right by cafe.this explains things better, otherwise you will just be looking at mounds of grass wondering what it's all about!! Nice cafe and gift shop. Great if you like a good walk around the grounds. Recommended
