Charlecote Park, Warwick

4.5
#1 of 8 in Parks in Warwick
If you enjoy a good costume drama, Charlecote Park is probably your cup of tea. You can even on a period maid’s apron and try your hand in its fully operational Victorian kitchen. Home to the Lucy family for more than 800 years, the house is one of England’s best-preserved estates with formal gardens and miles of woodland walks opposite the River Avon. Costumed volunteers lead guided tours through the brewhouse, tack room and great hall. You’re welcome to enjoy a sit-down meal at the on-site restaurant or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds, where William Shakespeare was once caught poaching. • We came to Warwick for a bank holiday get away. We loved seeing this house, the house was lovely and there are nice grounds to walk around too, we also went into the church which was charming.  more »

  • Lovely parkland, dogs allowed but not dog friendly as lots of restrictions due to the deer/sheep. House lovely and well set out but little of the early history of the family is detailed. Plenty of car parking although it is a fair walk to the house.
  • It was the warmest February day on record today for our day out at Charlecote Park, which made it an even better day out, though even on a cool and grey day Charlecote would be magnificent. The house and grounds are a wonder to behold and the National Trust Volunteer staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit.
