#1 of 36 in Nature in Devon
At Kents Cavern, explore caverns with signs of habitation dating back to the Stone Age. Take a guided tour through the labyrinth of chambers. Your guide will tell you stories of how prehistoric humans and animals made their homes here. Dramatic stalactites and stalagmites point from the roofs and floors. Kids can find artifacts, such as a shark's tooth, in the archaeological dig area and paint a woolly mammoth on a cave wall. Make sure you stop into the Ancestors Exhibition to see the oldest human fossil discovered in Britain, a 41,000-year-old jawbone. Finish your visit with a bite in the on-site restaurant. Take a look at our Torquay trip website to schedule your visit to Kents Cavern and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Good tour in the cave with lots of interesting information. Good exhibition area and nice cafe. Pouring with rain at the end of our tour so we didn't look around outside.  more »

  • It was fun, our kids enjoyed it, the tour guide definitely made it, he was very amiable and quite funny. The caves were interesting, but your only in their for about an hour. Outside there's a nature trail where you can spot stuff and build a den. Cafe sells nice food too. It was a good place to go on a rainy day, but definitely book online and save a few quid, parking can be tricky as the car park fills up quickly and you have to park on the rd.
  • Had a lovely few hours here. The group size we went round with was good. Cara, our tour guide was great, good sense of humour and very knowledgeable. We booked tickets online which saved money. You don't book a time so you can go whenever you want. We did the same with a cream tea and saved money on this too. The scones are OK, nothing special. There are a few fun things for younger children to do as well.
