Founded as a Cistercian monastery dedicated to austerity, poverty, and prayer, today the structure is one of Wales most famous medieval ruins. Now an abbey open to the sky, the location attracts students of history, beauty, and art. Additional ancient buildings dot the landscape. Artists as varied as William Wordsworth, Alan Ginsberg, and Iron Maiden have drawn inspiration from these renowned picturesque sites. Bring your walking shoes and camera to capture what inspires you. We made it together with the stirling castle, from the station you take a mic that leaves you almost at the door. it's huge and well-defined with the indications. you might want to take the entrance for both of you. highly recommended.
Nice place. Plenty of little eateries dotted about for food. Main meals. Tea and cake in afternoons. From Easter when weather good. Place gets packed even more so on weekends. Pleasant walks around tintern +abbey attraction which is well visited. Always a relaxing afternoon to walk and chill even when lots of people around. When busy being only 2 of us. One disabled. and having room at our table. We have allowed people to sit with us and met some lovely people and interesting conversations. One of our favourite places being local to area can highly recommend
It was really amazing. Once inside, you'll be amazed by the size of this enormous building. Also you'll get a good picture of the Abbey's history. It's not a free entry, but definitely worth it!
