  • Such a great museum in Weston Park next to University of Sheffield. It is packed full of local history and some quirky finds too! In early summer the banks of the lawns is the place to be with all...  more »

  • It's a great museum, much changed from when I was a young lad. I took my daughter, who enjoyed some of the stuffed animals as well as the art exhibition. Top tips, use the Q Park as suggested on the website and if you spy a spare table at the cafe, grab it, as I find it quite busy today. Surrounding area is great too, it's not too far to the city centre and if you go the opposite way for half a mile you can visit Butcher and Catch, which is a fantastic restaurant
  • We went to the Nordic by Nature exhibition, July 2019. It was a rainy day and the museum was busy. However the interior is large and airy so it didn't feel cramped and there was plenty of room to move around. For an old museum the facilities were clean and modern. There are a number of lockers where for £1 we could leave our wet macs and brollies. The exhibition itself was small (one large exhibition room) but well thought out with information about the different Scandinavian countries and the origins of their national arts and crafts, displaying objects and pictures which reflected the different flora, fauna and landscape typical of each. After visiting the exhibition we went to the cafe for lunch. Again a light, airy space, with plenty of room to accommodate everyone from the single diner to a large group. The variety of food on offer there was very good. It was a little pricey at £20 for a sandwich, eggs benedict and two pots of tea, but the portions were good size and the quality of the food offered was top notch. We both enjoyed our lunch. Gift shop had a good array of everything from pocket money toys for the kids to brilliant historical books for adults. Overall a highly recommended place to visit for adults and children alike.
