I am a ceramic artist based in Pembrokeshire on the west coast of Wales, UK. My work is influenced by my surroundings of beautiful countryside, stunning coastal scenery and a land that has heritage and industrial past.

Having travelled around the world there is without doubt an international influence on my work, I have a passion for contemporary and modern art, but also an enormous respect for the classics. This is very much evidenced in my work and many of my current projects look at classical ceramic pieces and examine how I can recreate them in a contempory style.

I have a small gallery in the beautiful harbour village of Saundersfoot and work from a local pottery studio.

I hope that you will visit my gallery, please contact me if you would like a private viewing of my work, commission a bespoke piece or an exhibition or simply wish to discuss upcoming projects.

Thank you for visiting my website. Tinto, my Welsh Terrier, and I hope to see you in my gallery soon.

  • The owner and potter of this lovely little studio is charming, informative and inspirational. He is also incredibly helpful with his local knowledge of the area and generous with his time. Most importantly there was no expectation or pushiness about a sale, he was just a fantastic guide of his beautiful products. I fell in love with several of the sea globes and ended up buying for my sisters as well as myself and am looking forward to visiting again early next year .
  • Richard is very personable, friendly and happy to talk about his creative processes and inspirations. We spent almost an hour at Blackbird Ceramics just talking to Richard and looking at his lovely creations, most of which would make great keepsakes or gifts for special occasions. Despite what Google says, the shop is open every day, but you may need to phone or text Richard to ask him to open, which he is very willing to do. Overall, a lovely little shop with hand crafted ceramics that's worth a visit if you're in the area.
