If you're a fan of big cats or interested in the wildlife of Madagascar, head to Isle of Wight Zoo. Here you'll find a handful of African lions, jaguars, and tigers, one of which is white. In the Madagascan exhibits, you'll see ring-tailed, black-and-white ruffed, red ruffed, and mongoose lemurs, among others. You can also view spider monkeys and capuchins. Take a tour to learn more about the zoo's big cats (check the schedule ahead of time, as it varies according to season). The zoo also houses a few wallabies, and you can interact with them by purchasing a token at the entrance for a small extra fee. Isle of Wight Zoo Reviews
I feel a much better description for this place would be a big cat rescue centre or animal sanctuary. I think it would attract more support, that it rightly deserves. I visited with my daughter for the... more »
This is not a huge zoo, more of a Tiger and Lion rescue centre but they also have some monkeys and Meercats, along with a little reptile centre. You can see all the animals quite close up which is rea... more »
A small zoo but that gives it a more personal vibe. You can go at your own pace. Animals are common and animals you would find in Madagascar. Plenty of places to sit and an awesome educational centre w bugs/snakes/frogs/various types of geckos. The enclosures are well kept and the animals seem happy. Being a small zoo, staff has rapport w the animals. Private tours, being a zoo keeper for the day and informational talks are available. Staff is friendly and approachable. Fabulous greenery and gardens. The tigers are rescues from the circus so they are able to live a happy life and build a rapport w handlers. There is an outdoor kids playground w climbing areas, a fire pole, a trampoline, various swings and figures to take pictures w. The gift shop is amazing w a huge selection and very affordable. Note - you need to pay for parking.
Amazing place. I had not been back for around 50 years + The work that they are doing there for the sanctuary and conservation of the Tigers and other animals is exceptional. It's obvious that all the keeper's and staff there care passionately about the animals. I would highly recommend a visit.
