Rochester Cathedral, Rochester

#1 of 62 in Things to do in Rochester
Must see · Religious Site · Church
Experience Englandโ€™s second oldest cathedral, Rochester Cathedral, built by the Anglo-Saxons in 604 CE. It blends many architectural styles, including Norman and Gothic, with finely detailed Romanesque facades. Join a service, listen to the choir, or just visit the cathedral on your own for its historical significance. Pick up a memento at the gift shop or stop for a snack at their tearooms and gardens, where all proceeds go to maintaining the building. Take some photos when not in service, and make sure to book a guided tour in advance. See Rochester Cathedral and all Rochester has to offer by arranging your trip with our Rochester sightseeing planner.

  • Fantastic place to visit. Staff really helpful and knowledgeable. The Knife Angel is there at the moment, what an impressive and moving piece of art. Definitely something that everyone should see. The crypt is full of the photos of knife victims. Very sad but if it saves lives it has got to be worth it.
