A pleasant walk through the woods from Ravenglas. Pleasantly surprised at the size of the site and the informative notices. Would recommend and at no cost it was worth it. more »
A short walk from the train station set down a leafy lane is the remains of the bath house. Part of what was the Roman fort and port of Glannoventa some earth works lie nearby the bath house. Site is free to access.
Raven glass was a major port for the Roman empire and the small relic a joy to behold as builder myself. It's on the hadriens cycle route in a woodland with a sprawling meadow at the side. Wonderful peaceful place that has enriched history and a feeling of they built it on that spot because of it's natural energy.
