Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Portsmouth

4.7
Experience 800 years of naval history at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, which is surrounded by working docks and several historic buildings. At this location there’s plenty to keep everyone in the family entertained, with regular special events, educational activities, talks, and exhibits. Go aboard historic HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, and HMS M33. You can also visit the raised wreck of a sailing ship from the time of the Tudors, accessible from the Mary Rose Museum building. Stop by the site’s informative Action Stations center, containing interactive demonstrations of various aspects of naval science. With the number of simultaneous visitors to each exhibit limited, it’s best to book your tickets online to skip long lines and avoid disappointment. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Portsmouth holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The Historic Dockyard is a fantastic place to visit. Walking up towards it with HMS Warrior on your left adds to the atmosphere as you get to the entrance. The staff are helpful and friendly. If the coastal wind starts to chill you, call into the Costa and get a hot drink whilst looking over the imposing figure of HMS Warrior. Make sure you take some change for the parking machines though, some accept card but most don't. Not the Dockyards fault so still 5* from me
  • Great museum. Lots for kids to do. Adults to look at. There is climbing, boats, the Mary rose, battleships old and new. Play at being a marine. Run an assault course. Great place and the repeat visit entrance means you can have a whole year to visit everything. Well worth the entrance fee. Simply amazing place.
