Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford

4.4
In addition to serving as the cathedral church for the diocese of Oxford, Christ Church Cathedral is one of the largest colleges of the University of Oxford. Traditionally considered the most aristocratic college of its university, the institution has produced thirteen British prime ministers, equal to the number produced by all 45 other Oxford colleges combined. John Locke, John Wesley, Robert Peel, William Gladstone, and W.H. Auden studied here, to name just a few notable alumni. Throughout its history, the college’s world-famous Cathedral Choir has attracted many distinguished composers and organists, with many award-winning recordings to its credit. Guided tours of the site’s historic buildings and its well-known art collection are available weekly. Personalized tours, tailored to individual interests, can also be arranged. • The cathedral has a very medieval yet modern feel in it. It reminds of Harry Potter movies, the quidditch games and the clock tower gives an awe inspiring experience. I really enjoyed the food served in the college inside. It's one of the biggest ones around Oxford. The inner fresco of pictures inside the building in the dining hall is fabulous
  • What a remarkable setting this historic church occupies! I was fortunate enough to attend an academic convention and dine in the Great Hall. Erasmus and Sir Thomas More and countless other 'greats' had eaten there in previous centuries
