Meander through the 400-year-old stacks of Bodleian Library at the University of Oxford. As one of the oldest libraries in Europe, the five-building cluster boasts original architecture and represents the university’s fascinating history. Visit the university’s oldest teaching room or admire the ornate decor of the main study halls. Take a guided tour for a complete interior and exterior viewing and to learn more about the university’s history. Plan to eat before or after your visit, as food and drinks are not served at the library. Bodleian Library Reviews

The ceiling is a wonderful wood carving to be admired. Side note (but for some this is the most important thing) here were filmed some scenes of one of the films of the Harry Potter series.
If you are visiting Oxford on your own and not as part of any tour, would recommend to buy tickets to this place in advance. We went there on a Sunday, when it was closed for an event and only the lib... more »
You can only see the Divinity School/hall by paying a fee; you can either join a small tour for a small fee, OR, if the Divinity School is all you'd like to see (or have time for), then you can enter by paying £1. While there is not much happening inside, the place is magical. It helps that the room served as the backdrop for quite a few scenes in Harry Potter (which fans will be well aware of) but the ceiling is as incredible as the pictures make it out to be. Along the edge of the room, there are actually signs which tell visitors which scenes feature the room in the Harry Potter films. There is no room quite like the Divinity School in the world!!
This is an astonishing place with long and complex history. I highly recommend the 30 minutes guided tour (6 pounds/person). Our guide, Niomi, was an excellent story teller, and her vivid explanation really took us back in time.
