This was our first visit to the museum...we couldn't have had a better day! The pit tour lead by Steve was amazing, especially as I had been apprehensive about venturing underground! He made every effort to make me feel comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings. We spent the whole day there....so many interesting things to see and experience. It is family friendly but suitable for all age groups.Thank you to the ex miners who made our day so memorable and enjoyable.
We live quite local to the Mining Museum so can walk there quite easily. Its a great place to take the grand kids for an interesting afternoon out. Good play facilities and plenty to see on the history and working side of coal mining. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, two Nelson's columns + deep in the Yorkshire countryside. Martin, our guide, was a retired miner with a wealth of knowledge and an even richer vein of humour. Thank you.
