The National Justice Museum (formerly known as the Galleries of Justice Museum and, historically, the Shire Hall and County Gaol) is an independent museum on High Pavement in the Lace Market area of Nottingham, England.

The museum is housed in a former Victorian courtroom, gaol and police station and is therefore a historic site where an individual could be arrested, tried, sentenced and executed. The courtrooms date back to the 14th century and the gaol to at least 1449.

The building is a Grade II* listed building and the museum is a registered charity.

  • Educational and fun, if a bit pricey (at around £16 for a combined ticket with entry to the caves). COVID has caused the closure of a few things but it’s still worth a look around.  more »
  • A fantastic place to visit! Loved every second of it. A special mention to Andy the jailer-he was amazing! He’s a credit to the place. A great day out for all.  more »

  • Really enjoyed my trip to the National Justice Museum. There was quite actually a lot to see all about crime and punishment and I spent three hours there in total. I thought the actors in costume were really good, especially the girl playing the witch/prisoner - she was really funny. The mock witch trial and the public hanging were really entertaining.
  • VISITED ON SATURDAY 27TH JULY. VERY IMPRESSED, REALLY GOOD STAFF & ENJOYED THE WITCHES TRIAL (SEEING AS I WAS ONE..) WAS IN THERE FOR 3.5 HOURS & STILL DIDN'T GET TO SEE EVERYTHING - HAD TO GET BACK TO CAR PARK! I CERTAINLY HOPE TO VISIT AGAIN. WELL WORTH THE MONEY/TIME.
