Spend a day experiencing the world of science and industry at The Discovery Museum. Located in Newcastle upon Tyne, the museum tells the rich history of the area’s maritime industry and technological development. Observe the first ship to be powered by a steam turbine or Joseph Swan’s early lightbulbs. Kids love the interactive play areas for a hands-on approach to science. Very good, well laid and very interesting. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Newcastle. Cafe was lovely too more »
A place well worth visiting, allow 3-4 hours. Free entry with the opportunity to make a donation if you have enjoyed your visit. We most certainly did. Staff very informative and friendly. Cafe very good with a good moderately priced selection of snacks and meals, very good selection for young visitors. Do visit the Great Hall if open. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that some of the interactive exhibits were worn out due to being enjoyed but previous visitors. Something for everyone to enjoy here!
Kids Lego treasure hunt here during the summer holidays made us explore the museum properly for the first time. Much more to this than just the small steamer in the main hall. Kids will enjoy the interactive science displays.
