Jesmond Dene Park occupies a narrow, steep-sided valley of a small stream and was designed to reflect a rural setting with woodland, crags, waterfalls and pools. Escape the stress and noise of travel and come here to relax. There is a spectacular mix of native and exotic trees, as well as wildlife, notably the Kingfisher, red squirrel, and many woodland birds. Other amenities include a ranger service information room, conference center, and a visitors’ center. Take a load off at the picnic area and cafe with refreshing drinks and snacks. To top off your trip, check out the Pets’ Corner, where you can learn about and interact with a number of endearing animals. You must not leave without visiting it (no matter how much the Georgies insist that you must visit the Angel of the North).
Jesmond Dene is a pearl in the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. What I absolutely love is going for a stroll and getting so immersed in the beauty that nature offers that you forget you are in a fully functional modern city. I recommend visiting the Dene at least once a season to appreciate its beauty. Pets corner and the play parks offer fun for kids and make for enjoyable family friendly outings. A lovely place to picnic with family and friends.
Fantastic place for a family day out... Waterfalls, parks, trees, pets corner. Something for everyone. Beautiful place.
