Malham Cove are a huge amphitheater-shaped cliff formation and a deep gorge, produced by water from melting glaciers over a period of 3 million years. Explore the western side of the cove’s 80 m (260 ft) cliff face, which features about 400 irregular stone steps forming part of the route of the Pennine Way, one of the country's longest and best-known walking trails. Widely regarded as one of Yorkshire’s most impressive natural wonders, the gorge contains two waterfalls and a series of overhanging limestone cliffs over 100 m (328 ft) high. When visiting this rugged area, remember to wear appropriate hiking footwear, wear layers of warm clothing, and bring plenty of food and water.
