Must see · National Park · Nature / Park
Explore the largest piece of unenclosed pasture, heathland, and forest in southeastern England, New Forest National Park. Walk, bicycle, and horseback ride the numerous trails here, which pass through a variety of landscapes, including woodlands and coast. Stop in the New Forest Museum and then take a guided tour with a local expert to learn about the area's history, geology, wildlife, and folklore. If it rains, you can still tour historic houses and other museums, learn how to make cider at New Forest Cider, and visit the UK's only working tide mill. The site covers a lot of ground, so stop in the Visitor Information Centre to plan your time here. • Beautiful old woodland, full of deer and wild ponies and other wildlife. Originally a hunting ground for William the Conqueror, this beautiful part of England is well worth a visit.  more »
  • Was there in August this year and again in October a wonderful part of the countryside and not too far to travel.  more »

  • Do your research before leaving home to ensure that you get the most out of your visit. There's plenty to interest everyone, history, nature and colour in abundance, whatever the season. Golden yellow gorse, shades of purple heather, walls of colourful rhododendron and brilliant autumn hues. And in the bleakest white winter the forest and moors take on a beautiful if harsh appearance that reminds us that even behind the fences that protect the native ponies, the New Forest remains a wild place.
  • Snow adventure. Summer adventure. Autumn adventure. Always something different on the forest. Great for walking, cycling, horse riding, picnics, fishing and just about every outdoor activity you can think of. We spend slot of time here and always come across something new. Would highly recommend, if for only a day or to live!
