  • St Matthew's, Bethnal Green, is an Anglican church built in the 18th-century and designed by George Dance the Elder. Like other designs by Dance, the church is very similar to St. Botolph in Aldgate at least in the exterior. The interior is very different, gone are the wide pews. There's no much in the way of elaborate art inside, but here are the usual depictions of the saints and scenes from the passion. The later done in stone relief, but in a very contemporary style. The grounds and gardens of the church are pretty extensive with plenty of seats to sit down and just enjoy the grass and trees and in the summer, the flowers too. Nice to visit if in the area.
