#6 of 1,184 in Nightlife in London
Theater · Concert / Show
Discover the plays of the Bard of Avon the way they were meant to be seen, at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. an authentic reproduction of the open-air theater once established by the playwright's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men. The modern playhouse sits roughly 230 m (750 ft) from the site of the original. Between performances, take a guided tour of the theater, and browse exhibitions highlighting Shakespeare and theater in the 16th and 17th centuries. If watching a play while exposed to the elements doesn't appeal, the adjoining Jacobean theater recreates the style of indoor playhouse for which Shakespeare also wrote. • Stunning venue that is very easy to access. We were in for Midsummer Night's Dream and had wing seats. Loads of social distancing (surely more than they actually need to) and decent sight lines...  more »

  • Had a fabulous experience here seeing A Midsummer Nights Dream with my kids. Brilliant show with amazing talents. Highly recommend going - an absolute “must do”. I am so impressed how they managed to bring Shakespeare to life and more so make it so accessible to young kids! Well done. Big thank you to all the staff and security for helping to find an item ist by my child. Over and above with their kindness and help. Thank you.
  • Such a great place to visit for a show. And the fact they still do £5 tickets is amazing. I try to go every year. The cast are always great at bringing Shakespeare to life. I recommend buying standing tickets for £5, going about an hour early to stand in the queue and you'll be near the front. That means when they let you in you can go right up to the stage and lean against it. It makes the standing manageable. And the cast often come down into the "pit" so you really get to feel part of the show.
