Flea Market · Hidden Gem · Shopping
There has been a market on the site of Old Spitalfields Market since 1638, when King Charles I gave a license for flesh, fowl, and roots to be sold there. Today, Old Spitalfields is one of London’s top markets, offering antiques, clothes, organic food, artwork, and vinyl records. It’s particularly recognized as a place for young designers to showcase their work, and is considered very fashionable. As it’s a covered market, you don’t need to worry about rain. Once you’ve worked up an appetite from shopping, visit one of the stalls selling food, or one of the restaurants and cafes also in the covered area. • Lots of metal overhead... old markets such as this made London great ! Definitely worth passing by. Actually, it's quite posh and upmarket nowadays.  more »

  • I lived there for 2 years. I enjoyed going to the Spitalfields market almost everyday. The place is clean, a lot of cool & quirky shops. It is also close to Brick Lane! A lot of people come on the weekends. It is also a covered market! Price of things: Medium to High Cleanliness: Quite Clean Toilets: Open to public & relatively clean Types of shops: Fashion, coffee, restaurants, home, fitness
  • Very spacious market. They have increased their food area. It is so lovely and lively. Great place to taste world food. Bit quiet during weekdays but gets really busy at weekends.
