Green Park, London

4.4
#13 of 186 in Parks in London
Spanning over 16 hectares (40 acres) of mature trees and grassland next to Buckingham Palace, Green Park is a peaceful oasis in the heart of London. Enjoy a pleasant stroll or relax on a picnic blanket and watch the world go by. Unusual for a Royal Park, Green Park has no formal flowerbeds. One possible explanation is that Catherine of Braganza, wife to King Charles II, discovered that Charles had picked flowers in the park for another woman. Scorned, the Queen ordered that every single flower in the park should be pulled up and no more planted. In recent years, the park has become a place to remember those who served in the two World Wars, with several monuments situated around the park. • Many trees The place is close to the Buckingham Palace. Most people here will focus on exercising. Most people will walk together at this country and run a jogging in the park. The atmosphere is shady.

  • If you need a respite from the intensity of London, this 40-acre greenspace is a great escape in the middle of the city. It's a rare park in London without any water features, which is why I can't giv...  more »

  • One of the Royal arks and one of the best parks in London. It has to be as it's right next to Buckingham Palace. Well maintained and forever popular with the tourists (so you know it's a safe place to walk around).
  • Green park is good for a walk round. No features as such to look at nice to have a picnic and very local to Buckingham Palace. Has a tube station entrance so easy enough to reach by tube train, but I do recommend walking from Victoria station to the Palace, and then across to the park.
