Situated in the heart of London, this 'Secret Garden' is a centre of education, beauty and relaxation. Chelsea Physic Garden was founded by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London in 1673 for its apprentices to study the medicinal qualities of plants. Throughout the 1700s it was one of the most important centres of botany and plant exchange in the world. It is London’s oldest botanic garden and a unique living museum.

  • Really chill place. Beautiful. Lots of history and wonderful plants. The self-guided audio tour is really cool and easy to use. Very well cared for and organized gardens. I was there in early spring and there was lots of life, so I'm sure it's absolutely stunning by midsummer.
  • It is always a pleasure to visit the Physic Garden even in the dead of Winter when nothing is at its best. Every plant has a history and the free guided tours and/or free talks check when these are before you go, are full of facts about them which will astound you. Snowdrops, Irises and Narcissus are the Kings and Queens in the new year months of January/ February and the sheer variety and cost of the rare ones will surprise you too. The homely country style restaurant serves great food but be aware that if you are booking to eat you are still obliged to pay the £7.50 entrance fee. No concessions.
