Apsley House, London

4.5
The London home of the Dukes of Welllington, Apsley House now functions as a museum and art gallery run by English Heritage. Built in the 18th century, the house represents possibly the only example of an English aristocratic townhouse from the period. The heritage museum contains a collection of 200 paintings, including works by Velazquez and Rubens. Eighty-three of the paintings were gathered as part of a looting of Joseph Bonaparte's baggage train following the Battle of Vitoria. Admire the grandeur of the stately home, and if you're lucky, you might catch a sighting of the ninth Duke of Wellington, who still resides here from time to time. Planning London trip won't be overwheling when you use's Insprock itinerary maker.

  • I absolutely loved my visit at Apsley House. The exhibitions were interesting as well as beautiful. The audio guide was extremely informative and interesting. Highly recommended!  more »
  • Explore Te Papa, the premier museum in the heart of Wellington, located in a special building, with six contemporary museums that began welcoming visitors in 1998. The museum combines high-tech exhibits, exhibitions and collections of photographs, history, Maori and Pacific culture, and natural sciences. Walk through the impressive gallery section and see the high-tech inter-interaction features, which enhance the number of exhibits. Explore the natural environment of the West, the Maori culture, and learn about the history of the city and the colonial past in the fascinating exhibition. The name "Te Papa" is the container of Maori, the meaning of the site, the museum's full name "Te Papa Tongarewa" is where the treasure is the place, here is a treasured in the West, the exhibition is worth cherishing, Let the world love the object, the West can have today is also experienced kind of it! The only regret is that I wanted to push the Maori club house vigorously, but unfortunately I couldn't shoot it (without a picture).

  • I never heard about this museum before but when I did I wanted to make a visit. I love museums and specially those where you can visit old houses with beautiful architecture. Apsley House was everything I was looking for and more! The place is so beautiful and the story of it interesting too. I love the fact that the audio guide was free. It was really interesting! I was just a bit sad that we couldn't take pictures but it's okay.
  • To visit Wellington home 🏡 very interesting place. To see all the paintings he collected. All the impress gifts Wellington was given from different countries. The talk the gentleman gave us at the end, gave us an insight into Wellington life more.
