The Hurlers is a group of three stone circles in the civil parish of St Cleer, Cornwall, England, UK. The site is half-a-mile west of the village of Minions on the eastern flank of Bodmin Moor, and approximately four miles north of Liskeard at.
The Hurlers are north of Liskeard near the village of Minions on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor in east Cornwall. Just to the west of the circles are two standing stones known as the Pipers. Nearby are Rillaton Barrow and Trethevy Quoit, an entrance grave from the Neolithic period. The Hurlers are managed by the Cornwall Heritage Trust on behalf of English Heritage.
The name "Hurlers" derives from a legend, in which men were playing Cornish hurling on a Sunday and were magically transformed into stones as punishment. The "Pipers" are supposed to be the figures of two men who played tunes on a Sunday and suffered the same fate. According to another legend, it is impossible to accurately count the number of standing stones.

  • The three stone circles are amazing but also the hurlers on top of the rock was outstanding. Definitively visit it! Tip: bring good shoes as you walk over moor and stones  more »
  • Lovely walk and then climb to the hurlers, the dog had a fab time (although dogs have to be kept on a lead due to cows/sheep! - amazing views from the top. Sturdy shoes needed.  more »

  • Forgot to take the dowsing rods, however this stone circle has one of the best views out of the all the henges I have visited, with great views over natural unspoilt countryside and further afield out to sea. Some are cold some are warm, some tell a story if you are willing to listen! There is car parking near by and its a shortish walk past lots of old tin mines, burial sites and old remains of houses.
  • A lovely tranquil place that I found relaxing and peaceful. The photos speak for themselves imo. Obviously this is weather dependent place. The parking is free and there are variety of different length walks to seek out around that area. I managed to do most of them and enjoyed every moment
