Relive the era of the Stuart monarchy in Scotland at the ruins of Linlithgow Palace. Located just west of Edinburgh on the Linlithgow Loch, the palace served as residence to the Stuart family in the 15th and 16th centuries. Walk through the decaying ruins to learn more about the rich history of Scotland and the palace’s early inhabitants. Climb each of the towers to enjoy spectacular hillside views of the surrounding water. Take the train from Edinburgh to avoid the hassle of parking at the site. Linlithgow Palace is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Linlithgow Edition.

For some reason I think I was expecting more. Maybe because it has the word "palace" in the name. Its an ancient palace with all empty rooms and no furnishings. If your in the area its worth a visit. more »
Its good for a family day out. Look round the palace and the church of Scotland with its beautiful stained glass windows are a must see. Or have a picnic with the family and let the kids run around.
I think Linlithgow Palace is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Scotland. The history alone is unique. If your in this area don't miss it, the High Street too is full of quaint little businesses, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and a lovely walk round the water, takes about 40 minutes.
