  • Fascinating little museum containg some of the early history of photography. Good explanation of the processes involved and the race to be first but lots of reading. The Alice in Wonderland exhibition...  more »

  • Excellent visit. Welcoming and helpful staff and volunteers. Beautiful grounds with lots of lovely tall mature trees and different areas of the gardens, like the rose garden, botanical garden and orchard. The house is unusual and interesting. The oldest parts include the cloister as seen in numerous films including Harry Potter. The photographic museum and exhibition space are well worth including in your visit, to gain an understanding of the beginnings of photography and the life of Henry Fox Talbot. There are two standard issue National Trust tea rooms; not particularly cheap, and with fairly limited choice. Quality of food and drink is average to good. (You could try The George or The Red Lion pubs in the village instead.)
  • Good little museum attached to the National Trust Lacock Abbey site. The museum is very small but informative. The temporary photography exhibition within was amazing, really enjoyed it and thought it was a brave choice for the National Trust. It could only be improved by being a larger museum dedicated to the origins of photography.
