Duncansby Head is the most north-easterly part of the Scottish mainland, including even the famous John o' Groats, Caithness, Highland. The point is marked by Duncansby Head Lighthouse, built by David Alan Stevenson in 1924.
A minor public road leads from John o' Groats to Duncansby Head, which makes Duncansby Head the farthest point by road from Land's End.
The Duncansby Head Site of Special Scientific Interest includes the 6.5 km stretch of coast south to Skirza Head. It includes the Duncansby Stacks, prominent sea stacks just off the coast.

Beautiful views, bit very windy and wet! If you are elderly and cant walk then this is not the place for you unless you have a great wheel chair and a kind person to push you, but try not to miss out ... more »
Fantastic views around. The lighthouse is not accessible. There is a huge fens around and everything locked. Website says that there is a gift shop, but I could not find it. Very disappointed.
Impressive views over the north eastern most point of Scotland and the two spires are just awe inspiring. Definitely take the time to walk to the end, it's worth it!
