Duncansby Head, John O'Groats

Duncansby Head (Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Dhunngain or Dùn Gasbaith) is the most northeasterly part of the British mainland, slightly northeast of John o' Groats. It is located in Caithness, Highland, in north-eastern Scotland. The headland juts into the North Sea, with the Pentland Firth to its north and west and the Moray Firth to its south.

  • There's a free, but small, Car Park by the lighthouse and a short walk across the fields brings you to the amazing natural sea stacks of Duncansby Head. On the way you can see birds nesting on the...  more »
  • Places is great and easy to find, ten min or so walk from car park a must see while doing the NC500!  more »
  • Fantastic views around. The lighthouse is not accessible. There is a huge fens around and everything locked. Website says that there is a gift shop, but I could not find it. Very disappointed.
  • Impressive views over the north eastern most point of Scotland and the two spires are just awe inspiring. Definitely take the time to walk to the end, it's worth it!
