Must see · Castle · Garden
Home to the chief of the Campbell clan since the 16th century, Inveraray Castle still houses the 13th Duke's family on two floors. The rooms open to the public are furnished in the Neoclassical style and include glided ornamental detail on the walls and ceilings, chandeliers, and polished furnishings. The highlights are the tapestry room and the duke's coronation robes. The first floor houses a gallery chronicling the Cambell family history and the MacArthur Room, where a ghost is said to haunt the bed. Visit the castle's website to book a discounted ticket in advance. • How could I have missed this gem! What a reminder of the amazing history of our country. Great idea having the quiz for kids, kept ours entertained allowing us to just be awed.
  • Beautiful castle and gardens. Some lovely walks around the grounds. Good cafe with tasty treats, too.
