  • Right from the start our visit to the Abbey was a pleasure. Excellent weather, sunny, bright and warm just added to a very happy couple of hours here. The staff were brilliant at both the reception and cafe. Happy, smiling, informative and friendly. There is enough of the buildings left for you to get a good sense of the scale of how it must have been so many centuries ago and with a little imagination the place suddenly becomes alive with the daily life of the monks and what life might have encompassed for them. There is a car park directly outside the entrance which was free when I visited. There is also a public toilet here. Access is excellent for all and Rievaulx Abbey is definitely worth a visit.
  • This is such a beautiful, peaceful place. There's plenty to see and do, whether you are a youngster in need of an exciting open space or a more mature person who enjoys calm reflection. The site is well supplied with information boards, and you can buy a guidebook. There is level access across most of the property and there is a disabled loo too, although it's not central to the site so you might need to plan for it's use. The staff are ever so welcoming, and the coffee is reasonably priced and delicious! P.S. I enjoy being a Google Local Guide.
