  • We had time to kill in Hayle so wandered into this place. Despite having little interest in mining etc, we managed to spend 90 mins in this small heritage centre. The story was told so well, with lots...  more »

  • A Hidden Gem. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this centre. There is a lot of very interesting information about the history of the local area, very well displayed. The staff are extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I was very impressed with the way different staff and volunteers approached visitors soon after they entered the centre and offered whatever assistance was needed. The first room focuses on the area in prehistoric times. The second concentrates on more recent history, and the building itself is an important part of the history of the town. The main entrance is slightly tucked away around a corner, but it is well worth looking for. Don't let the stone steps up to the centre put you off. A few places back from the road is a lift to assist any who need it, eg wheelchair users or people with pushchairs. I note that they also advertise a summer talks programme, and that there are weekly (I think) activity sessions for children . I spent an hour there and will go back to finish looking at the exhibits.
  • Local small exhibition for an hour visit. Packed with information about Hayle's unique history. Really welcoming and highly knowledgeable staff. Crafts for children.
