Polesden Lacey, Great Bookham

A well-preserved example of the luxury once enjoyed by the wealthy locals, Polesden Lacey is an Edwardian house featuring a collection of fine paintings, furniture, porcelain, and silver. This collection once belonged to Margaret Greville, a well-known Edwardian hostess who enjoyed exhibiting her priceless possessions at her celebrated house parties. Many of the mansion’s grand reception rooms and galleries are open to the public and can be viewed on informative guided tours. Be sure to take a leisurely walk through this extensive estate, which is famous for its walled rose garden, manicured lawns, and series of footpaths. Don’t miss a stop at this historic site where King George VI spent part of his honeymoon in 1923.
