Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boatlift in Scotland, connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. This engineering phenomenon attracts over 400,000 tourists every year to its visitor's center. Take a boat ride on the lift and into the canal to experience the ingenious mechanism. A boat departs from the harbor every hour, so you'll have frequent opportunities throughout the day to tour the canal and admire the lift's operation. The channel connects Glasgow with Edinburgh, so consider using it as your means of transport when touring these two great cities. • What a fantastic peace of machinery to see plus lot of thinking to walk round and see plenty of things for children to do ,nice eating places,  more »
  • Standout staff, from the shop to the restaurant to the boat crew on the wheel itself. Didn’t feel ripped off by prices  more »

  • Brilliant experience. The actual trip on the wheel along with the short journey along the canal was great. The lady (sorry can’t remember her name) taking us on the tour was very informative & funny. The staff overall were pleasant & helpful. The cafe & it’s staff were great too.
  • I love seeing the applied science in action, and the shop is, for me, the best tourist shop around. The play area, illustrating more scientific principles for children, is an interesting and enjoyable touch. I like the fact that it is a working operation, not a tourist trap. Everything is functional and authentic, including the eating area with a good view of the wheel and perfectly adequate offerings while you wait.
