Barnfield Theatre, Exeter

#18 of 43 in Nightlife in Exeter
Exeter Barnfield Theatre is a purpose built theatre located in the heart of Exeter’s city centre.

The building itself dates from 1890, when it was the home of the Exeter Literary Society, and has been variously occupied by the GPO, Civil Defence, the Tax Office and the Exeter Little Theatre Company.

Now completely independent and run by a charity, today the theatre plays host to a wide variety of shows, conferences, Mother & Toddler groups, theatre schools and great music. We have a small but dedicated team of staff and volunteers who maintain the building, deliver brochures, serve drinks in the Barnfield Bar, serve snacks and ice creams, meet and greet, man the box office desk and telephone and work hard to make your visit to the Barnfield Theatre the most welcoming, friendly and entertaining experience it can be.

The Barnfield Theatre Ltd is a Charitable Company, Limited by Guarantee.

Registered Charity Number: 263944

  • Lovely old theatre. Well done to cast of 9 to 5. Very entertaining. Talented performers.Would have given 5 stars if there were a few more ladies toilets!
  • Loved the amateur showing of the Grand Duke. Disappointed only that there were no sausage rolls as my daughter had hoped. My son had a lovely relaxing time. Do think the foyer needs attention. It was crowded with people who just blocked the way rather than moving out of the main pathways. If there is nothing on in the downstairs room, open it up as a waiting area for people to meet up and chat. Nobody knows when a fire emergency alarm can go off. In public places fire safety should always be upper most in planning.
