Scotland's Oldest Free Lending Library, established by David, 3rd Lord Madertie and located in a tranquil woodland setting close by the River Earn in Perthshire. I wasn't looking for this place I just followed a brown sign and we found each other. If you love history..books and world records this is the place to go. It was so tranquil and the staff were so inviting and friendly and knowledgeable that I could have remained all day. The one thing it misses is a place for refreshments but that is a minor thing. They are creating a walk to the river and you have a church and nearby castle ruin for anyone who wants to explore beyond the wonders of Scotland's original library.
