Chronicling the historical lifestyle, culture, and architecture of the Welsh people, St Fagans National Museum of History consists of more than 40 recreated buildings taken from various locations in Wales. Located on the grounds of an Elizabethan manor house, this open-air museum welcomed its first visitors in 1948. The site, modeled after an outdoor museum situated in Stockholm, includes a Unitarian chapel, village schoolhouse, tollbooth, pigsty, and tannery. Holding permanent displays of traditional crafts, the museum also features a working blacksmith’s forge, pottery shop, mill, and clog maker’s shop. Drop by the site’s small farm, which concentrates on preserving native breeds of livestock, to peruse the fresh produce available for sale. Fascinating seeing the way we used to live here in Wales many years ago! A must visit if you're visiting Wales. Friendly staff, everything is well kept after.. I liked that the staff were bilingual too, speak Welsh and English. Took my grandmother here for her birthday and she thoroughly enjoyed! I loved the terraced street where every house goes up a generation in time from super old.. to modern day... Exceptional

Beautiful gardens and fantastic place to visit suitable for all ages. There is a great exhibit on Welsh history, very important to remember and see the lessons from the past and mistakes which must never be repeated, and the buildings are all wonderfully restored and great educational places. Always filled with families enjoying a day out. Very helpful staff all around the museum. Highly recommend a visit. (If public transport, it is very easy, stopping right outside the museum, be sure to ask the driver when the last bus back is)
