  • A ruined abbey held to be the first institute of higher education in the UK, large site, dogs allowed on a lead. Small but excellent shop and museum. Best to visit on a sunny day. Part of the Canterbury World Heritage site.
  • I really liked it here. I love the idea of the length of time that humans have been visiting the site (since 600AD). There is not tons to do here, if you aren't interested in historical sites you may find it lacking, but I found it really peaceful to wonder round. I got in free as part of my English heritage membership, normal cost is around £8 per adult. I can hugely recommend English heritage membership if you visit a lot of historical sites though as it is about £5 per month and you have access to over 200 sites.
