The Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, a historic regiment of the British Army. The museum is located within Caernarfon Castle in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, North Wales. Admission is included with entry to the castle.
The Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum has a collection and displays containing links to the regiment's fourteen Victoria Crosses and the writers and poets who have served their country when enlisted in the regiment; men such as Siegfried Sassoon, Robert Graves, Hedd Wyn, David Jones and Frank Richards and extensive displays relating the long history of the Royal Welch Fusiliers over the centuries.
The regiment can trace its history back to 1689 and the campaigns of William III of England, the Duke of Marlborough, the American War of Independence, the Napoleonic Wars, the Crimean War, the Boer War, conflict with China, the First World War, Second World War and recent peacekeeping duties in Bosnia in 1995 following the Bosnian War.

  • Remarkable museum detailing the Welsh military and it's involvement with both world wars (and some others). Fantastic items on display - ranging from clothing to swords to medals - that you won't find anywhere else.
  • Very interesting museum, learned a lot about the history of the royal Welch, something for all ages including some historical garments that the kids can dress up in while the adults read the exhibits that interest them, we spent 1 and a half hours and read most of the pre-20th century stuff and skimmed the more recent stuff due to time constraints. If you're interested in the history 2 hours should be enough.
