Belfast Castle, Belfast

3.7
History and fine dining come together at Belfast Castle, which holds a prominent position 120 m (400 ft) above sea level and provides panoramic views of the city of Belfast and Belfast Lough. Dating back to 1870, the castle was designed in the Scottish baronial style by architect Charles Lanyon. One of the area’s most popular wedding reception venues, the castle includes a well-stocked antiques shop and an informative visitor center. The castle’s restaurant serves meals for all tastes, from light snacks to gourmet evening meals, prepared using only the freshest and finest local produce. When you visit the castle, don’t miss a chance to photograph the iconic Napoleon’s Nose, a basalt outcrop believed to have inspired Jonathan Swift’s novel "Gulliver's Travels." • There are no words to describe the awful experience in the cellar restaurant. Food was absolutely terrible, coffee was undrinkable, and the physical environment was unkempt, dark and very unpleasant. ...  more »
  • A party of three went for lunch. The only place abailable to eat due to renovations was the cellar bar . This is a dark and dingy place and we would have left but didnt have time to go anywhere else. ...  more »

  • This is actually a restaurant and not a museum. Good place.. Nice people. A great view of city from here. I really like the garden in front of it. Behind the castle there is a good place to do the trucking and nice place to layer the land.
  • Nice place for a visit. Excellent view of the Belfast bay. Cave hill is worth a visit, but be sure to wear appropriate footwear as it can get quite muddy. There is also a restaurant we rather pack our own food.
