England's largest theme park, Alton Towers rarely disappoints visitors of any age. If you want your adrenaline to flow, hop on the Smiler, the world's first 14-loop roller coaster. Let go of gravity and fly under footpaths and past trees and rocks on Air. Get wet on Congo River rapids and ride the runaway mine train. Let the special effects of the 4-D cinema dazzle you, and view over 300 species of fish, including sharks and rays, at Sharkbait Reef. Bring your bathing suit if you plan to visit the waterpark here. There are cartoon-themed attractions for little ones, and you can book a room at one of the on-site hotels if you wish to spend the night. Arrived at around 10 in the morning, the queues were short and we could go on the rides straight away. At about 12 it got very busy and the queues got to about a half-hour wait. While we were waiting ... more »
What an amazing theme park to fill your day with adrenaline. We went on a school day in may and it was nice and quiet. So quiet we were the first ones on the smiler which is incredible. Due to it being so quiet we had chance to go on all the rides about 3 times. A very good day out.
Great park! Rides are thrilling. However, can take some time to walk from one ride to another. They're not as close to each other as in Thorpe park. Its best to visit just when the park opens in March or April on a weekday as this is when you can actually enjoy all the rides instead of wasting you time in queues. 1 star deducted due to food options. Limited options for vegetarians. Also, all junk food. Perhaps some healthier options could be considered by park.
