Jabal Bil Ays, Ras Al Khaimah

Take a ride up Jabal Bil Ays--at 1,934 m (6,316 ft) above sea level, the country's tallest mountain. On the way up, the winding road takes you between foothills and across rugged, rocky terrain boasting lots of interesting geological features. Pull over at one of the natural viewing areas and admire the impressive vistas that each twist and turn in the road provides. Rumor has it that the mountain will soon be getting the five-star treatment, with a hotel, cable car, golf course, and ski slope all planned, following the opening of the mountain road in 2015. Until then, it stands as an impressive natural landmark, with no facilities except for the road. Stock up with water and food before your journey, and drive carefully on the tortuous route. • The Mountain View’s were spectacular. I was amazed by the different types of mountain homes and goat life. We stopped by the dam for reflection and great pics.  more »

  • Beautiful and satisfying.Roads are really good. There is place at the top where you can do barbeque. The place at the top of the mountain is spectacular.. definitely will visit again.
  • My favorite place for camping.. worth the drive. Maintained clean.. winter is the best time.. wear appropriate clothing it’s always 10 degrees cooler than the ground level. take enough food charcoal firewood and water. Do not litter there’s fine waiting for you 😬. No charcoal or bonfire on ground. Take a grill with you so you can burn firewood to keep you warm. Always use garbage bins provided, there is a separate bin for charcoal. Keep it clean enjoy your stay.. Images are copyrighted. Prior permission required.
