Jabal Bil Ays, Ras Al Khaimah

Must see · Mountain · Nature / Park
Take a ride up Jabal Bil Ays--at 1,934 m (6,316 ft) above sea level, the country's tallest mountain. On the way up, the winding road takes you between foothills and across rugged, rocky terrain boasting lots of interesting geological features. Pull over at one of the natural viewing areas and admire the impressive vistas that each twist and turn in the road provides. Rumor has it that the mountain will soon be getting the five-star treatment, with a hotel, cable car, golf course, and ski slope all planned, following the opening of the mountain road in 2015. Until then, it stands as an impressive natural landmark, with no facilities except for the road. Stock up with water and food before your journey, and drive carefully on the tortuous route. Plan my trip to Ras Al Khaimah with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • Although not our first visit, when invited by friends during the holiday, we did not say no for an answer. A perfect place to get out from the city's hustle and bustle. A more or less two-hour travel....  more »
  • Perfect to spend nights and doing grills. Also, the weather is a little cool over the mountains so carry jackets.  more »

  • Beautiful and satisfying.Roads are really good. There is place at the top where you can do barbeque. The place at the top of the mountain is spectacular.. definitely will visit again.
  • Nice place Jebel Jais but take care of cleaning otherwise there will be hefty fine Aed 500 starting and while issuing fine they will take your ID and for paying you have to visit again RAK to get back your ID and payment.
