#8 of 97 in Shopping in Dubai
Explore the scents, flavors, and colors of Emirati cuisine at Dubai Spice Souk, a traditional market. Wander the multitude of covered streets, taking in sights of sacks overflowing with spices, herbs, and fruits. Independent vendors will offer you a glass of tea and tell you all about their proudly displayed stock. If something strikes your fancy, remember that haggling is the norm here, so try your best to get a fair price. Take your camera with you to snap shots of the artfully arranged stalls and the traditional local produce. Dubai Spice Souk is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Dubai Edition.

  • The Spice Souk is among the most colorful places in Deira and is unsurprisingly, popular with tourists of all nationalities. The shops here boast of a huge collection of natural spices and condiments....  more »
  • Do not go there, do not buy anything there! For 100g of curry and 100g of garam masala they wanted 850dhs. There was no option to give less money, really angry seller. We've left that place because we...  more »
  • Nothing quaint, only stores that try to rip you off money. Wouldn't go back more. It feels like a souvenir market. Bad

  • Found the old spice market very entertaining with its old-world unusual charm and high pressure salesmen banter. The smells of ancient spices are intriguing. Be aware these starting prices are high in Aussie speak where you need to bargain hard to get a fair price. Before handing over money ensure you check all items are included the final price!
  • Like other Souk's we visited, there was certainly amazing sites and smells with non stop persistent sales men trying to make a living. But the perpetual "watch, bags, shoes, tee shirt" pitch got boring fast given the fact it was literally almost shop after shop. If u are local it would be fantastic, fresh meat tourist.. not so much. BUT, I must say we wandered for ages in the back streets and never felt unsafe.
  • This is a great place to go for that special shopping. You can browse and bargain to your hearts content. Easy to reach from Al Ras Metro station. I promise you, you will find what you want here. We arrived as total strangers but after only a few hours, it feels as if you have been here all your life, truly. I will be back!
  • What a fascinating and friendly place!of course the stall holders want to sell you 'stuff' that is where they are there for! But they can also teach you so much whilst you're there. The indigo blocks that can be just put in the washing machine to pep up your denim and the amazing lumps of menthol that clear your sinuses just on opening the box.
  • Worth to see, if you want to feel kind of authentic Arabian atmosphere. You can enjoy the beautiful scent of great variety of spices all around you, but be careful when buying them. You can't win bargaining with Arabic salesmen ;) .
