Miletus, Didim

#3 of 34 in Things to do in Didim
Ruin · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Miletus represents one of the most prominent Greek cities from two-and-a-half millennia ago. It flourished throughout the existence of the Greek and Roman civilizations and left a great legacy to the world, including the origins of science. Today, the remains of its ancient structures spread across 90 hectares (220 acres) of land; among them are a 25,000-seat theater, lavish 1st-century CE roman baths, and enormous defense fortifications. Walk through the streets and squares of the complex to encounter various preserved monuments, colonnades, portals, and ancient hallways. The site also houses a small history museum.
